laptop does not reboot ( HP Dv 4000) .. stops with HP black screen . cant reboot even by using back up system Cds .. when i try to reboot using last valid configuration ,, it reach to the same black screen with HP logo in black screen .. how can i solve it ??? thank you

Not knowing enough about the problem and not being able to work on that PC I can suggest you to make a back up copy of everything and format it…

do you see an error message?
it could be a damage of the boot file.
reboot with your xp cd, use the restoration console (you’ve to type R to start the application) and then type bootcfg /rebuild.
if is not a problem of boot.ini it could be a hd problem, in that case you’ve to detach you hard disk and mount it on a desktop to do a backup…
You have to specify some other things…for example you had this problem after a software installation?!?!?ecc…
